The drive
Out of Pisa on the FI-PI-LI along the Arno, then south at Empoli into the Val d'Elsa. Once the road turns, the flat plain is behind you for good and it is vineyards and low hills the rest of the way, through Certaldo and up towards Poggibonsi.
The last stretch is the climb to San Gimignano itself, where the towers keep appearing and disappearing as the road bends. About an hour and fifteen door to door.
Landing at Pisa Galileo Galilei
Pisa's airport is about ten minutes from the leaning tower and is the quickest major Tuscan airport to get out of. One arrivals hall, and I am inside it with your name on a sign rather than waiting in the car park.
The flight is tracked, so a late landing moves the pick-up by itself and costs nothing. Much of the traffic here is low-cost and arrives at awkward hours — that is not a problem, the service runs around the clock.
Arriving in San Gimignano
The walled town is closed to ordinary traffic, so no vehicle reaches a door inside it. What it can do is reach the gates, and the car parks sit immediately outside the walls — the walk is a few hundred metres, not a trek from a distant field.
Which gate depends on where you are staying, and getting it wrong means hauling cases up and over a hill town. Send me the hotel name with the booking and I will bring you to the right side. Agriturismi in the vineyards below are plain door-to-door.

How many people fit in the van?
Up to 8 passengers with their luggage, in a nine-seat Mercedes Vito. Groups of three to eight are exactly what the van is for — you all travel together instead of being split across two cars. For larger parties I can arrange a second vehicle; just tell me the number.
Do you charge per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. The price is the same whether there are three of you or eight, which is what makes a group transfer good value — the more of you, the less it costs each. Every journey is quoted on request, so send me your date, airport and group size and the figure comes back.
Which airports do you cover?
Florence Peretola (FLR) and Pisa Galileo Galilei (PSA) are the closest, both a little over an hour away. I also drive to and from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA), Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN), Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY), Venice Marco Polo (VCE) and Naples Capodichino (NAP).
Can you drive us to a villa in the middle of nowhere?
Yes — that is most of my work. Hotels, villas, agriturismi and farmhouses down unsealed white roads around Siena, Casole d'Elsa, Chianti and the Val d'Orcia. Send me the address or a map pin and I will find it; if the last stretch is rough, I will tell you in advance.
